We just wrapped up a detailed comparison between the single player campaign experience for Modern Warfare 2 and Battlefield: Bad Company 2. After completing both games, we crowned MW2 as the clear winner. We now move onto the multiplayer experience. BFBC2 has stirred up some controversy as the multiplayer beta experience had been hit or miss for some people. After some hands on game playing with the final copy of the game, we can now definitely say whether DICE delivers another killer Battlefield game.[nextpage]

As I laid out yesterday, here are a couple of things you should keep in mind - I have a final reviewable copy of Battlefield: Bad Company 2 and have been playing it all weekend long. I also clocked in some good hours with Modern Warfare 2 already. I have no particular beefs with

If you were to gauge internet chatter these days, you'd swear that the rivalry between Battlefield: Bad Company 2 and Modern Warfare 2 was bigger than the 16-bit console wars, or the classic Celtics vs Bulls rivalry. Or even bigger than a Democrats vs Republicans showdown. People have clearly taken sides, and aren't shy about sharing their views, despite that most people haven't even played BFBC2 yet. So I went into playing BFBC2 with one clear intention - to determine if EA's game could actually be better than Activision's game. So which one came out on top when it comes down to the single player campaign?[nextpage]

Before I jump into the details, I should provide a backdrop to this comparison. I have a final copy of Battlefield: Bad Company 2 and have been playing it all weekend long.

The Kartel had the chance to check out the Tony Hawk: Ride event here in the bay area. Activision brought the whole Tony Hawk crew out for a show and tell in the Metreon (when did the marquee Sony store close down???), with a special appearance by Mr. Hawk himself. I been to a number of these type of press events before, but I must admit, this one was by far one the best. We had a jolly good time.

So what about the whole extravaganza was so fun? It isn’t just one thing, it’s really how it all came together. All the little details that clearly showed someone thought of everything. These guys should plan weddings. That is, if you want dozens of kids running around, mini corn dogs, and a candy buffet at your wedding (I do.) Here’s a quick summary of it all.[nextpage]

The folks at Activision must be clocking on quad-overtime, as they are putting out all their big titles in a one month span. All of these titles are making us more excited than a teenage girl caught up in the Twilight hype, so we wanted to expand our coverage for a full week!

We're starting off today with a blog about the midnight launch of Modern Warfare 2. We'll then follow up later this week with a DJ Hero expose, and gauge some feedback from real DJs. We're then heading to a Tony Hawk promo event this upcoming weekend, where we'll get to play the new wheeless skateboard and see how it holds up. We then wrap up with a playthrough of Band Hero, and help shed light on what makes it so different from the other music games out there.[nextpage]

So stay tuned to this blog as we update

There was tremendous fanfare this week for The Beatles: Rock Band since the game sold just over 600K units across multiple platforms in its first month on the market, according to NPD. Viacom, the parent company of MTV Games/Harmonix who developed the game, has been vocal in touting impressive numbers. Earlier this year, they stated that over a billion dollars in retail sales have been generated by the game series for the first 15 months on the market.

However, what seemed to have been completely glanced over was a recent report by Credit Suisse which highlights some stunning revelations on the music game series. Quite simply, Rock Band has lost a vast amount of money for Viacom. By the end of 2009, Credit Suisse projects that Rock Band stands to have lost over $90 million. The game series
