During our exclusive interview with Tony Hawk, a fascinating side discussion started up about what type of game he would love to work IF the game wasn't a skateboarding game. His answer surprised us.
"I always felt that Kelly Slater's surfing game was underrated. It was one of the best games during that time for the PS2. I would really be proud if the board used in in Ride was used for a surfing game. I don't expect to be in it, but that would be real cool because I actually surf. It'd be a huge success to me if other games were designed using the board peripheral in the future."
It's already been revealed that Robomodo, the development team that worked on Tony Hawk: Ride, is hiring people for an unannounced extreme sports title. We confirmed with Josh Tsui, President of Robomodo, that indeed they are already working on a new game, though he kept mum on whether it was a surfing game, and whether the new board they designed would be used.
At E3, media publications were discussing anything from a Silver Surfer game to a revival of the Back to the Future series using the hoverboard. Hawk believes that "the sky's the limit for developing all kind of games using the peripheral." Perhaps his next dream project isn't too far fetched after all.
