Most people have been scoffing at the DSi XL because of its bulky size, hence eliminating any sense of portability for the Nintendo handheld. A fellow blogger here on The Kartel recently highlighted the reasons not to get a DSi XL here. However as Nintendo products are concerned, there's always going to be certain people that just have to get everything. Remember the Game Boy Micro? People bought that system because of its sleek portability despite sacrifices with the screen size. The DSi XL is no different. There's definitely something cool about this handheld, and I for one love it. Here's five reasons why I love the DSi XL.[nextpage]

Is it just me or has there been an odd amount of Jersey Shore and Super Mario comedic collaborations lately? We just posted a Jersey Shore w/ Super Mario reality show story the other day, and now we have something that's a little bit more public. The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson recently opened up a segment of their show with a parody movie trailer poking fun at the egotastic characters of Jersey Shore and everyone's favorite video game plumber.[nextpage] Having recently concluded its first season with a new series finale record for MTV, Jersey Shore stars so many over-the-top characters that the inclusion of Nintendo's mascot is certainly debatable. Not only does everyone go all out in creating their costumes, but they spend a large majority of time making sure that their party crew matches fittingly as well. Girls in Vegas were often decked in similar costumes of pirate mates, Disney princesses ...

Surfing around numerous international gaming websites, I just found a story highlighting this amazingly detailed wedding cake inspired by Nintendo's Super Mario Bros. [nextpage] Each tier of the cake depicts a familiar level from the original Super Mario game for the NES and these layouts look strikingly similar to the actual game! Supported by warp-pipes for each tier, the cake's artist was even able to showcase the individual enemies and power-ups as well. Let's not forget the classic Mario and Princess Toadstool figurines at the top. Also behind the cake is a large question mark item box. I wonder if the wedding ring is in there. ...

With some of the upcoming holiday season's best games around the corner, I would expect to see several high-profile videogame TV commercials. For the casual gamer, sometimes these commercials are enough to sway the opinion of someone on the ropes of buying a game with a new intellectual property or character brand. Over the last several days, I've combined a list of my favorite gaming commercials, measured not just by humor or artistic design, but also their impact on us as gamers as we look at them today. Most of these commercials should give you goosebumps because of their overall nostalgic flavor, but let's not forget about the emotions that were brought out by these as well. I bring you... The Top 10 Game Commercials Worth Reliving: 10.) Game Genie (NES) Why it's on the list: ... |
