We've seen plenty of them. People dancing to videogame music on YouTube. There's been dance choreography by entire marching bands and cheerleader squads, professional dance teams doing their best impression of Dance Dance Revolution, even college kids re-enacting Tetris games through dance. And who could forget the hugely popular World of Warcraft Dance Video that first surfaced in 2007? After surfing around, I've found quite a few interesting dance videos involving the Wii. Black Friday is nearly upon us and with the generous free time that gamers will be able to spend on finally finishing up the plethora of good videogames recently released, there's always bound to be more games coming in our stockings. Heck, we just revealed some of our holiday picks (non-videogames) yesterday. We've compiled some of our favorite Black Friday gaming deals below. Some of them include a good majority of system bundles, but quite a few popular games have been drastically reduced from their suggested retail prices as well. An ex-Eurocom animator may have just put smiles on first-person shooter fans everywhere. The once public CV of Craig Peck lists several details that links him to the once classic N64 shooter that has taken credit for being one of the pioneering first-person shooters in gaming console history. Previously an animator on "Activision's James Bond series for the Nintendo Wii," Peck then listed his involvement with a project entitled, GoldenEye 2010 for the Nintendo Wii. [nextpage] Involvement included "key frame animation, the preparation and clean-up of motion capture data, prop animation, in-game cut-scene animation, scene layout, and camera animation." With some of the upcoming holiday season's best games around the corner, I would expect to see several high-profile videogame TV commercials. For the casual gamer, sometimes these commercials are enough to sway the opinion of someone on the ropes of buying a game with a new intellectual property or character brand. Over the last several days, I've combined a list of my favorite gaming commercials, measured not just by humor or artistic design, but also their impact on us as gamers as we look at them today. When the Wii released, a plethora of its many uses started garnering national attention. People were using the Wii in senior centers, physical rehabilitation centers, military resting barracks', weddings, club events and more. Now, the University of Houston will be awarding college students college physical education credit for playing Nintendo's console. The games to be utilized will be Wii Fit, Wii Sports, Wii Sports Resort and Dance Dance Revolution in addition to more traditional methods. Furthermore, students will also be required to take quizzes on nutrition and overall health and track their calorie intake and physical activities. Straight on the heels of a report announcing Nintendo as Business Week's best company in the world, Reggie Fils-Aime talked to CNBC about Nintendo's massive supply of video-game consoles in preparation for the upcoming holiday season: "From our standpoint, we're prepared," Fils-Aime told CNBC. "We have a tremendous amount of product in inventory, we've been flowing product into retail. We do not expect to have shortages on our products." There's just too many stories and reports out of the Tokyo Game Show in Japan that it's impossible to ignore the notion of "new" controlling devices for the Xbox 360 and the Sony PS3. There's enough games on the show floor to try out and even more presentations showcasing their developer intentions, but why aren't there enough hands-on impressions or detailed reactions to the technology of each? Are things being shown behind closed doors that the public isn't allow to hear or read about yet? Or could there be an even bigger story here? Could game journalists be tired of all of the suggestive "me too" demonstrations that mirrored the initial excitement of the Wii? Or are journalists hiding something even more suggestive; that these new control schemes aren't as revolutionary... ... |
